About Kyla Carlson, CPNP-PC, APRN, MSN

Kyla Carlson, APRN, MSN, CPNP-PC, IBCLC was raised in Austin. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from The University of Texas at Austin in 2008. After working as a nurse for several years and loving the pediatric population she decided to pursue advance practice nursing and earned her Master of Science in Nursing from The University of Texas at Austin and certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in 2013.

She has been practicing at Austin Diagnostic Clinic since 2014. As a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, Kyla enjoys providing care to both sick and well children. She sees patients for preventative care and acute illnesses. As a nurse practitioner, she can make medical diagnoses; order labs, imaging, and other diagnostic tests; interpret the results of tests; and develop treatment plans, which include writing prescription medications. One of Kyla’s passions in the pediatric setting is to help and encourage mothers with breastfeeding. She has been an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant since 2019.

Kyla’s favorite activities include spending quality time with her husband, their children, and their fur babies. As a family they enjoy hiking, traveling, baking, and playing soccer. She believes being a mom has made her a more compassionate pediatric provider.
